Rail Thermometers

Railway tracks are built in sections and assembled with a small gap between each rail segment. The jointed tracks enable adjustment by expansion/ contraction allowing for track temperature variations. Variations in temperature need to be monitored regularly to avoid track fractures and accidents. These days several types of rail thermometers are available for constant monitoring of tracks in remote areas, signalling if critical levels are reached, and recording of temperature trends. Manual measurement in many cases may not be possible and some models do not require staff deployments for temperature measurements. Accurate readings using rail thermometers are therefore of prime importance to guarantee security of railroad functioning.

CONTINUOUS RAIL THERMOMETER MODEL CRT-1

‘PIE’ Brand Continuous Rail Thermometer Model CRT-1, generally confirming to RDSO specification but improved. The Thermometer records rail temperature for up to 9 months on an hourly basis.

DIGITAL RAIL TEMPERATURE MEASURING DEVICE MODEL PRT-01

‘PIE’ Make Digital Rail Temperature Measuring Device (with Max – Min facility) Model PRT-01. The device measures rail temperature by placing it on the web of rail which is Railway’s recommended practice. It shows the actual temperature of the rail.

Rail temperature measuring device Model RailTemp

Rail temperature measuring device Model RailTemp GSM/SMS with GSM based data forwarding unit. The continuous rail temperature measurement is important by monitoring of the CWR rail tracks.
