Rail Track Gauge measures the distance between the inner faces of the two rails as well as the level difference between them. Both these measurements are crucial track parameters. Track level needs to always be adjusted for laying out curves and accuracy in gauge measurements is assured by keeping a 90° angle to the longitudinal axis of the track. The railway track gauge – cum - level measures the gauge as well as the cross level of the Railway track, simultaneously. The gauge-cum-level consists of two items i.e, the “Spirit Level” for level difference and “Measuring Gauge'' . The insulation in the gauge provides safety from electrical connections between the rails. PIEs’ High Precision Track Gauge cum Level Model AL-5 is made of extruded aluminium section, hence, capable of measuring Track Gauge and superelevation (cant) precisely by means of an easy-to-read dial mechanism supplied in padded storing bags. Wheel profile gauges are designed for measuring the tread profile of rolling stock wheels. These gauges are designed for measuring tyre or tread parameters, geometrical parameters of flange and full profile of the wheel. These measurements can be performed directly on the wheel sets without their roll-out. The contactless methodology eliminates common errors and measurements can be saved in the gauge memory through recorders for analysis. Wheel profile gauges store information and measurements, and allow it to be accessed at a later date. The contactless models allow for laser scanning and the android based application displays and continuously logs data. PIEs’ Laser Wheel Profilometer LPM-5 has been designed specifically to work as per the Indian Railway Standards. The profilometer is used to measure the wheel profile very quickly by laser scanning without any contact with the wheel tread. The accompanying PIE Android app displays the profile, wheel wear parameters, and logs data.
